Yuvan Shankar Raja and Suriya Joining Again

It looks like Yuvan Shankar Raja - The Music Prince is going to be Music Director for Actor Surya's Next Movie if the below source is true.  Lets hope the news is true.

Looks like Venkat Prabhu has finally decided on his next  project!  If the buzz in the Kollywood is true, then the Mankatha director has achieved a coup of sorts by signing up with none other than suriya for his next flick.

The director's Mankatha had the second highest opening ever in K-town, second to only the superstar's Endhiran.  Though Suriya has agreed in principle to work with him, it looks like the director would have to wait for a while before the film can actually go on the floor.  Suriya's 7am Arivu is yet to release and he has to complete Hari's film before he starts Venkat Prabhu's project.

Currently, Venkat Prabhu is off to Malaysia with Premgi and friends for a holiday, possibly to celebrate the success of Mankatha and relax after the Charan Sona episode.

After Rajini–Ilayaraja now its Ajith–Yuvan Shankar Raja Combo

Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja has become busier than his usual self. The tunesmith surely does have added responsibilities post his second marriage. Yuvan entered wedlock with Shilpa (a Doctor by profession) on Sep 1st, 2011. Juggling between his personal and professional commitments, the pressure seems to have increased a wee bit more with multiple albums being polished up in his studio.

When enquired whether he is able to make time to keep in touch with his fans U1(Yuvan Shankar Raja) tells us, “It’s been kind of tuff. I’ve been really busy and honestly speaking I get very less time to be active on social networking sites.”

Howsoever the composer was more than happy to share one of the comments he got from his fans saying “If it is “Rajini – Ilayaraja”  in 80s – 90s then its “Ajith – Yuvan” in 2ks… Love u bro ”.  U1 is presently engaged with upcoming biggie Thala Ajith project Billa 2 as he quips, “Billa 2 has some super tunes and the theme will rock for sure.” Apart from Billa 2 there is quite a long list of releases in Vikram’s Rajapaatai , a Telugu movie titled Shadow with Pawan Kalyan and another flick in Thanga Meangal. About his Vikram movie U1 disclosed, “I have completed recording 2 songs for Rajapaatai and also composed one fresh tune just now  thinking to make Vikram sing in one of the tunes”. U1 fans are also awaiting his Hollywood hip-hop album due for release next year.

That’s a load of releases coming your away from the one and only U1(Yuvan Shankar Raja).

It will be remembered that Vikram sang for hit numbers like O Podu, Excuse me Mr. Kandasamy, among others. Yuvan fans and Vikram fans will definitely love to hear him sing again though Vikram himself is very self - deprecating about his singing abilities.

Kadhal 2 Kalyaanam - Music Review - Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan Shankar Raja is definitely on a roll. His Vaanam is making waves and his next audio release comes in the form of debut director Millind Rau's Kadhal 2 Kalyanam. This film is about the journey from love towards marriage and has Arya's brother Sathya making his acting debut as a Radio Jockey. He is paired with Divya Spandana and the rest of the cast includes Anuja Iyer, John Vijay, Nagendra Prasad and Kasthuri. Looking at the genre of the film, it appears to have a lot of scope for music. Has Yuvan scored a sixer with this one too? Read on, for the answer.

01 - Idhu Kadhalai Irundhidumo

Lyrics: Snehan
Playback: Benny Dayal, Rahul Nambiar, Chinmayi

The song starts off with slow paced and low volume beats which gain momentum on the way to become fast and loud. The lyrics of Snehan add to the mischievous mood of the voices which are very contemporary. Western instruments dominate this number with a lot of sound mixing. Chinmayee’s voice adds to the peppiness quotient with Benny Dayal’s base voice complementing it.  Ithu Kadhalai Irundhidumo is a perfect blend of melody and foot tapping beats.

02 - Natpin Kadhaigal

Lyrics: Snehan
Playback: Krish, Roshini

This song is an impressive solo by Krish. A short number spanning for less than four minutes, it has fast beats and plenty of guitar strains and bass. The lyric by Snehan is very youthful but never goes overboard. It goes, “Natpin kadhaigalai neengalum konjam kelunga” and we definitely love to hear the song till the very end where it fades away slowly.

03 - Nee Vetta Pora Aadu

Lyrics: Snehan
Playback: Yuvan, Roshini

Extremely funny lyrics, is the first thing that strikes you about this song. Though feminists might call the lyrics chauvinistic, it is sure to be a hit with the boys. The beats are different- like a mix of ‘dappankuthu’ and western. Yuvan usually stands out for singing in high pitch (Kadhal Solla, Iragai Pole) but here his voice remains in the low note and he does full justice to it. A perfect dance number, this song is a potential hit.

04 - Vellai Kodi

Lyrics: Snehan
Playback: SPB Charan

Hearing this song makes us wonder why SPB Charan doesn’t sing more often. There is something magical (should I say SPB like?) in his voice that makes the hearing experience a delight. This is a soft song with strong drum beats. The keyboard and flute piece before the second stanza is commendable and adds value to song.

05 - Thedi Varuven

Lyrics: Snehan
Playback: Toshi

This song is characterized by heavy metal beats and a heavier bass guitar. The song just storms past with high speed and Toshi’s fast singing fits well with the music. Somehow, the lyrics and the singer’s voice give the feel of hearing a retro song in the lines of MS Viswanathan’s Engeyum Eppothum from Ninaithaale Inikkum.

06 - Enakaaga Unakaaga

Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
Playback: Naresh Iyer

A mix of conventional and unconventional music, this song surprises you with every passing minute.  The traditional and classical-sounding flute music in the middle of the song blends beautifully with what follows. Naresh Iyer’s melodious voice and Andrea’s husky one gets together with surprising ease. The pace also picks up and falls down alternately on the whole making the song a unique listening experience.

Verdict: One more treat from Yuvan!

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is surely a well produced album and Yuvan has a love for playing around with the vocals of his singers particularly , some of the songs are really standing out and provide the much needed contrast to the whole album .Have a listen guys you will certainly like it.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam Soundtracks - Yuvan Shankar Raja

Naan Mahan Alla Mp3 songs
The soundtrack to the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The songs were composed and recorded in 2009 and 2010, with Chinmayi during the release time stating that she had recorded her song more than two years back, and Yuvan Shankar citing that he had handed over the Master recording in September 2010. However, due to the long delay in the making of the film, the soundtrack album was released in March 2011 only, after several postponements. Though Sony Music released the album in a "soft audio launch" directly to stores on 18 March, a special launch was later held on Radio Mirchi where all songs were unveiled and airplayed, with Arya, Sathya and Milind participating.

The album features six songs overall, with Yuvan Shankar Raja himself, who stated on Twitter that the songs would be "young and fresh", having lent his voice for one of the songs. The album also features singer-composer Toshi Sabri's first song in Tamil, which was his second collaboration with Yuvan Shankar after the song "Seheri" in Oy!. Telugu singer-actor Anuj Gurwara was also supposed to have to sung one song in the film, which however, was not featured in the soundtrack album. The song "Naa Vetta Pora Aadu" was co-sung by Ragini Sri, a participant in the second season of the reality-based singing competition Airtel Super Singer, however, she was falsely credited as Roshini in the first batch of CDs.

All lyrics written by Snehan, except "Enakkaaga Unakkaaga" Song written by Pa. Vijay.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam Movie Description - Yuvan Shankar Raja

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam Movie Description
KADHAL 2 KALYANAM
PRODUCTION

Both Arya and Sathya went through many scripts before selecting the script of Kadhal 2 Kalyanam, in which Sathya would be essaying the role of a radio jockey. Sathya, after being assigned for the role, had visited Bollywood actor Anupam Kher's acting school in Mumbai to "hone his acting skills", before starting to shoot, besides sitting with and observing professional radio jockeys at a radio station. Divya Spandana signed the film in October 2008, shortly after completing her third Tamil film Vaaranam Aayiram, describing her character as a "career-oriented, independent woman in the corporate world." Further more, former lead actress Jayashree was signed in November 2008 for a significant role, which would mark her comeback to feature films after a decade. In December 2008, Kasthuri was roped in to appear in a supporting role and play the wife to the character essayed by Nagendra Prasad, while John Vijay accepted to play a drunkard in the film. The film's shooting, however, got stalled midway in 2009 due to unknown reasons and was resumed in 2010 only.

Since a large part of the film would take place at a radio station, art director Rajeevan erected a radio jockey booth in Chennai. The film notably became the first film after 40 years to be shot at all the six most important shrines of the Hindu deity Muruga, the Arupadaiveedu ("Six abodes"), in Tamil Nadu, with a specially designed bus being used for the tour. One of the songs, "Vellai Kodi", was shot in Thiruchendur, one of the six towns of Murugan's abodes, with Nagendra Prasad choreographing the song, besides appearing himself in it, while "Thedi Varuven" was shot in Pondicherry. In July 2010, two songs were canned; a "bachelor song" ("Naa Vetta Pora Aadu"), choreographed by Robert, was filmed at a farmhouse near Red Hills, in which Sathya and Divya, along with junior artists, took part, following which the last song ("Idhu Kadhalai Irunthidumo") was shot. Rajeevan had erected a special "jungle set" at AVM Studios for the song, which was choreographed under the direction of Dinesh. With the completion of the song, the shooting was eventually finished after one-and-a-half years.

Aaranya Kaandam Music Review

Aaranya Kaandam is a Yuvan Shankar Raja Musical. This film cannot be what it is without this score. The background score is intrinsically woven into the design of the visual narrative. The film throws up a challenge for a composer and Yuvan Shankar Raja lives totally up to it and How! I do not remember the last time I heard so many different genres of music in the background score of one film (Thiruda Thiruda?). And yet none of them sounds alien to the film’s universe. There are distinct themes for all principal characters of the film. The themes do not undergo many variations through the course of the film, but recur aptly at the right moments. However, the main theme of the film is a Chord and not any melody. Yuvan Shankar Raja is in a hugely exciting phase of his career. He is the only composer in Tamil Cinema now, whom all kind of filmmakers approach for all kinds of films (low or a high budget, stars or no stars, commercial or art). He cleverly caters to each of their demands in the way they ought to be. Now, for Aaranya Kaandam score, Yuvan Shankar Raaja, Take a Bow and release the Soundtrack CD as you promised me on twitter.

Sound Track - Aaranya Kaandam

Yuvan Shankar Raja was signed as the music director, who was working on a gangster film again after the likes of Pattiyal and Pudhupettai. Kumararaja divulged that he actually hadn't anyone in mind, but joined with Yuvan Shankar Raja, following producer Charan's recommendation, who shared a "good working relationship" with the composer. Initially a soundtrack was also planned to be composed, with Gangai Amaran being roped in to pen lyrics, however Charan disclosed later that the film would feature no songs at all, becoming Yuvan Shankar Raja's second film project after Adhu without a soundtrack. Charan told that background music of this film will be released in CD's.

Aaranya Kaandam Movie doesn't have any sound tracks

Aaranya Kaandam Movie Description - Yuvan Shankar Raja

DEVELOPMENT

In August 2007, following the success of his film Chennai 600028 (2007), speculation over S. P. B. Charan's next production venture arose. While initial reports suggested that he would produce Achamundu Achamundu, starring Sneha and Prasanna, Charan opted to produce a film titled Aranya Kandam, to be directed by a newcomer Kumar Raja and starring newcomers. However, despite announcing the project, it was called off later that year and Charan started producing the film Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum in May 2008.

In late 2008, while Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum was in post-production stage, reports surfaced that Charan and Kumararaja were going to revive the project, with noted Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff being roped in for a leading role, making his debut in Tamil cinema. Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja was revealed to be a former Loyola College student, and popular advertisement filmmaker, who has also directed several short films, including the short film Becky, which was awarded the first prize at the one-minute film competition 60 Seconds to Fame. Kumararaja had previously written the dialogues for the 2007 comedy film Oram Po as well. He got the opportunity to work with Charan, when Pushkar-Gayathri, the director duo of Oram Po, had suggested him to approach Charan, who listened to the storyline and immediately agreed to produce the film, "in a matter of time" as Kumararaja cites. The film was formally launched on 18 December 2008 at the Kodandapani Studios in Chennai.

WRITING AND INSPIRATION

The script was written by Kumararaja himself, which he had finished in 2006. He cites that he wanted to make a "racy film" and wrote the climax part first, which would be the "raciest part of a film". He then wrote "multiple story lines with three climaxes" as he felt that one climax was "not enough for a feature film", which eventually turned out to be a "leisurely paced film, taking its own time to unfold" and not a racy film as intended. He cited that, while writing the script, he was sure that it was meant for a matured audience and not for children, "primarily because of the content". the film was an adult film for a mature audience and not for children, "primarily because of the content".Kumararaja went on to add that there were "no hero and no villain introduction scenes, there are no love scenes, no sentimental scenes" but nonetheless considered his film a masala film and not an experimental film. His inspiration behind the film was revealed to be The Godfather as well as the thought of "how someone becomes a gangster and continues to be one", clarifying that Aaranya Kaandam was not a biography or history of a gangster but "a page out of the life of a gangster".

CASTING

When announcing the film, Kumararaja had already roped in Jackie Shroff, debuting in the Tamil film industry, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj of Saroja fame along with Guru Somasundaram from the Chennai based theatre group Koothu-P-Pattarai. Shroff was said to play the role of a "hoodlum", who was chosen after Kumararaja had apporached several other Tamil actors, who refused the offer, fearing of their "image".According to the director, the role required a senior person and Shroff had fit the role "completely". Speaking of his role, Shroff remarked that he had done things in the film that he hadn't dared to do in the past 30 years of his career, quoting "I am literally a monster in the film. Actually, I am more like a coconut — hard on the outside, but a veritable softie inside". Ravi Krishna plays a "lover boy", whose role, he claimed would be totally different from his earlier roles. Ravi Krishna was Kumararaja's first choice for the character as he had written it with keeping Ravi Krishna in mind. Sampath Raj enacts the role of a gangster named Pasupathy. Kumararaja finalized Guru Somasundaram for the character of Kaalayan, after he had seen him performing the titular character in Koothu-P-Pattarai's play Chandrahari. Kumararaja had stated that the voice modulation and pattern of the Kaalaiyan character was based on Somasundaram's performance in the play Chandrahari, which eventually resulted in casting him in the film. Somasundaram cited that the dialogues were also written "keeping the artist in mind".

Yasmin Ponnappa, a popular Bangalore based model, who had appeared in television advertisements and won many beauty pageants, was selected for the role of the lead female character. Her role was, however, written for Pooja Umashankar, keeping her in mind, who couldn't accept the offer as she had given her dates to Bala's magnum opus Naan Kadavul. The details about the crew members were also published, when the film was announced in early December. P. S. Vinod was chosen as the cinematographer, who had earlier shot films like Musafir and My Wife's Murder, while Videsh was announced as the art director, 'Super' Subbarayan as the stunt master and Kalyan and Ajay Raj as choreographers. Vasuki Bhaskar was appointed as the costume designer. However, during the making of the film 'Super' Subbarayan was replaced by his son Dilip Subbarayan.

Aaranya Kaandam (Tamil: ஆரண்ய காண்டம்; English: Jungle chapter; English title: Anima and Persona) is a 2011 Indian Tamil action film, written and directed by newcomer Thiagarajan Kumararaja. It is supposedly the first neo-noir film in Tamil cinema. The story takes place in a day in the lives of the six protagonists, played by Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj and newcomers [Yasmin Ponnappa], Somasundaram and Master Vasanth. Produced by S. P. B. Charan's Capital Film Works, the film features musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by P. S. Vinod and editing handled by the duo Praveen K. L. and N. B. Srikanth.

The film was launched on 18 December 2008, with its principal photography being completed by late 2009, which was followed by a lengthy post-production phase. It ran into difficulties as the regional censor board in Chennai raised objection against the film, giving it an adult rating besides demanding 52 cuts. After screening at and becoming approved by the Tribunal in Delhi, the film was released worldwide on 10 June 2011, to high critical acclaim. It had its world premiere on 30 October 2010 at the South Asian International Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Award for Best Film.

Mankatha Music Review - "Eureka" - Yuvan Shankar Raja

Mankatha Music Review - Yuvan Shankar Raja
This is what the fans of Thala Ajith would cheer when they received the Audio CD of Mankatha. There has been more hype on the expectations of the album release and the golden moment has come in handy finally. The hot temper on the album launch has been due to the impact made by the single track released few months ago. More over, Yuvan has taken much strain and has infused his utmost strength to match the greatness of Thala’s movie. Also on the record was that Ajith is very particular about this movie, which happens to be his 50th movie in his career. Songs are penned by veteran lyricist Vaali, Gangai Amaran .

The playback singers have rendered some exquisite voices to peak the songs for a very long time on the air. If we bet on the range of the songs’ outcome, it is sure then that Ajith – Venkat Prabu- Yuvan trio is all set to leave an unmatched movie galore for the audience this year. Yes, it will certainly happen and it would be no wonder as Ajith always has an edge over others- except his destiny. But now the stars have started showering their bliss to him. Thala, Nimiramattume theriyum.

The songs review for the album is here:

01 – Vilayadu Mankatha

Lyrics: Gangai Amaran, Sucharitha (Hindi), Yuvan Shankar Raja (English)
Playback: Anitha, Premgi Amaren, Ranjith, Suchitra, Yuvan Shankar Raja

This song, the scratch of the single does not need any special mention. Already it has created great sensation among the listeners. Only thing is that this comes as the preclude to the album and we are not enthused to listen this first. To note the difference in lingual rendition, Sucharitha has sung the Hindi diction on her own while Yuvan has eased with the English diction.

02 – Nee Naan

Lyrics: Niranjan Bharathi
Playback: Bhavadharani, S.P.B. Charan

As Venkat Prabu mentioned earlier, the film has come off from the family crew – Himself, Yuvan, Bhavatharini and SPB Charan. One who is conscious of voice rendition can now recollect the song Mayil Pola Ponnu and Katril Varum Geethame, by Bhavatharini under her dad’s composition. After that spell, now this lady has voiced this song with the shrill rendition from SPB Charan. Yuvan is very keen on infusing the melody to reap the audience and he succeeds in this attempt. A very chordial song indeed.

03 – Vaada Bin Laada

Lyrics: Vaali
Playback: Krish, Suchitra

If it is Vaali then there should be some significance in the song. This song is especially crafted by Yuvan for hitting the fanatic lovers of Thala. It would be worth if remember Nethu Rathiri Amma from Kamal starrer Sakalakala Vallavan. Or it could be on the lines of Masi Masam Aalana from Rajni movie. But the voices are quite amazing that both Krish and Suchitra are indeed penetrating in the pitch variations. The modulations of their voices are duly orchestrated by the perfection from Yuvan. In this connection, he seems to have acquired his dad’s efficiency of recording. You can deem it as a bloomy remix or the item that could make us tap the foot. But this song has something to kindle our heart.

04 – Machi Open The Bottle

Lyrics: Vaali
Playback: Haricharan, Mano, Naveen, Premji, Tippu

If Saroja Saman Nikalo is the worth number in Chennai 600 028, this song is unique and exclusive for Mankatha rhymes. Or even it could be another sequel to Kodana Kodi in Saroja or Vethalaia Pottendi in Billa. This song is sure to create thunderous applause in the visual effects on the screens. Vaali has gone to the extreme youth in his choice of words for this song. The combination of voices from Mano, Tippu, Premji, Naveen and Haricharan is quite enthusiastic. The song is timely as the seasons are ahead for temple festivals and marriages in coming days. More so, the FM channels will find it difficult to combat the listeners’ choice numbers.

05 – Nanbane

Lyrics: Vaali
Playback: Madhushree, Yuvan Shankar Raja

In tune with the fashion of Yuvan to sing the soft paced song and he has found the niche from Paiya and Naan Mahan Alla. He has polished his voice for this song and the combination from Madhushree makes it very very plumy. The icing voices of these two singers are spread over the entire tune thanks to the genteel words from Vaali. In our count this should top the number in the album and the listings among other songs too. One can easily derive romance after giving ear to this song. Thanks to Yuvan and Vaali for making many youths to go on rampage for romance.

06 – Balle Lakka

Lyrics: Gangai Amaran
Playback: Karthik, Vijay Yesudas, Anusha Dhayanidhi

Another Balle Lakka after Chandramuki. This is a compliment to the producer as Yuvan has shortened the instrumentation to focus more on the voices of debutant singer Anuska (Dayanidhi Alagiri’s wife). What is disappointing is that Vijay Jesudoss and Karthik have been used least extent in this song. Who can beat the song Kanpesum Varthaigal (Karthik) and Sevalkodi Parakkudada (Billa2 by Vijay Jesudoss).

07 – Vilayadu Mankatha (Extended Dance Mix)

Lyrics: Gangai Amaran, Sucharitha (Hindi), Yuvan Shankar Raja (English)
Playback: Anitha , Premgi Amaren , Ranjith , Suchitra , Yuvan Shankar Raja

The peppy tune for the party hours and the spirit is slowed down for reasons unknown. Only Venkat Prabu should unveil the mystery in the movie. Just for a repetition, this track is filled in the spaces of the album.

08 – Mankatha Theme Music – Instrumental

When we talk about the movies in general, we look for the theme or the story. For music, it is sure that the theme music should convey the full film’s strait. This happens at the most extended level in this theme music. It all started when Yuvan scored the theme for the same Ajith starrer Billa and the instant recognition from the audience. Now the liability for Yuvan has increased and is quite natural that he should come out with the very best. Yes, he has done it now. The instrumentation and orchestration of this theme music is quite fantastic that the quality of the sound means it. There could be premium offers of this theme music for the mobile ringtones and caller tones. The rest of the season will talk about Mankatha songs until its magic is shadowed by its movie itself.

Conclusion

A very good menu chord in the album and we can feast our ears and mind wishfully. Yuvan seems to have made his priority on the movie since his Billa album peeped through the windows of all centres. With popular voices including his dad Gangai Amaran, Haricharan, Vijay Jesudoss the composer Yuvan has justified his delay in unfolding the wrapper of this album. Ajith should be praised for his patience in this regard as he always has a desire for perfection. We believe that Ajith would receive due reward for doing this project thereby cleansing the clouds which hung over his earlier tenure of career.
